The smartest decision Budreau made at any point during production was to call his former collaborator on “ Born to Be Blue ,” Ethan Hawke , who keeps this sometimes frustrating film nimble and entertaining. Stockholm can be described as a fun and comedic film, covering a dark subject matter in order to show its audience how human beings cope with stressful, life threatening situations. The film is based on the Swedish bank heist, and hostage situation, that would later inspire the coining of the phrase "Stockholm syndrome," which describes the phenomenon of a hostage forming a bond with their captor. Det är en riktigt underhållande film som jag kan rekommendera varmt, och som nog kommer passa de flesta smaker. Bonus: en stor dos 70-talsnostalgi samt några riktigt vackra Stockholmsvyer. They are the reason to check out Stockholm, a true crime 90-minute hostage flick that is the kind of film with the balls to proudly wear its direct double-meaning title non-ironically. This speedy caper yarn is all the more intriguing for its infamous subject matter but it unfortunately doesn't do much to probe it and mine it for all its worth.
